Welcome to my photography web site! I provide a range of services to individuals, organizations, small businesses and
fellow artists. Detailed information can be found in the services section, with examples of my work. I also do photography
purely for enjoyment. This work is shown in galleries, with emphasis on nature photography, and people.
People are very curious about photo equipment. Cameras and optics hold the attraction of small treasures, so I thought
this topic would make interesting web content. This section shows tools for a wide variety of work, in various film
formats and digital. There is an underlying plan: Small format and digital are ideal if images are destined for the web, or
printed media. Medium format negatives are more than four times the size of 35mm frames, and produce exquisite prints.
Large format prints are in a class by themselves, and view cameras also provide a range of movements to control perspective.
My choices tend be practical, suitable for a small business with no debt or studio overhead, and modest
operating expenses. This way I can offer affordable services.

Further savings are possible when photographers develop and print film, and operate a digital lab, as commercial
services tend to be costly. It's a healthy thing for artists to gain control of the entire process, from
initial visualization to the final print or media. Engineers would call this a "feedback loop", very
helpful in refining technique. Typically, I use my darkroom for black and white photography,
Anyone can be a photographer, but it helps to have some education and training. If you want to verify my credentials,
or read the commentary, see the "Paper Chase" section. In this area, you may also find food for thought.
Topics in photography are for people who enjoy the art of photography.
Subjects are presented with more depth than "tips", but I try to manage essays so they are brief and concise.
Clients are sometimes referred to these topics, which also have practical value in making decisions. New topics will be added
whenever I feel like writing about photography.
Some pages will take time to load if you have a dial-up connection. This comes with the territory, as a certain level
of detail is necessary for images to be effective in visual terms. My approach is to add more pages, rather than long pages, and
to refine content so it is worth delays experienced by some visitors. With tens of thousands of photos in my archive, content
can be refreshed frequently. If you run out of road at this site, check out the links page. Art is very
much a family affair; links will take you to sites put up by friends and family members.
